Law students with a first class degree
In 2007-08, 6.7 per cent of law students in England, Wales and Northern Ireland graduated with a first.
In comparison, 21.5 per cent of engineering and technology students; 19.9 per cent of students doing physical sciences degrees and 14.2 per cent of creative arts and design students received a first.
Nationally, 53 per cent of law students achieve a 2:1.
Is law a difficult subject to get a first in, or is it university lecturers not marking beyond 70%, as to why few firsts in law are awarded?
